Suresh Raina will return for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Raina left the IPL 2020 before the start of the 13th season due to personal reasons. He returned to the country from the United Arab Emirates after exposing the Covid-19 incident at the CSK camp in Dubai. However, some reports have further claimed that Raina disagreed with CSK team management over the hotel room allotted for him in Dubai.
While many news media reported that Chennai Super Kings are unlikely to play with Suresh Raina for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The relationship between the franchise and the players seems to have completely broken down after he withdrew his name from the 2020 IPL.
At that time, many reports suggested that Suresh Raina was not satisfied with the room he was provided by the team management. . “In CSK, the norm is that the coach, captain and the manager get suites. However, Raina also gets a suite in any hotel that the franchise stays. It’s just that his room didn’t have a balcony,” an IPL source was quoted by PTI as saying.
Amid speculation that he will not be able to play for CSK again, but a franchise official has confirmed that ‘Chinna Thala’ will return to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2021. The official said that the three-time champions are hoping to put Raina on the board again. Meanwhile without Raina Chennai Super kings faced a disappointed season at Dubai, in IPL 2020.
“He will be with us. There are no plans to part with him,” Mumbai Mirror quoted a top CSK official as saying.
Reacting on Raina’s arrest, the CSK official said the incident had nothing to do with the team’s plans for the IPL 2021 season and that the left-hander would play for the three-time champions. “We have only read about the arrest. Our plans have nothing to do with that development. He will continue to be with us,” the franchise official said.
Raina has been a part of the Chennai Super Kings since the opening season of the IPL in 2006. He led the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 and 2017 seasons when CSK was banned from the IPL. He has been instrumental in CSK’s huge success in the tournament over the years and topped the franchise with his 4527 runs from three-time champions in the IPL.
Raina is currently training with his state Uttar Pradesh team. And he preparing for the domestic T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
